Meego and vehicle integration
For future integration between mobile phones and cars, I think that MeeGo is the way to go.
This software is currently growing in the car industry and is fully usable in phones as well. Maybe in a few years, a mobile phone will be included in the car.

Fedora 16
...will probably be what my next operating system is. I don't think I will use Fedora 15 at least on my desktop. It just doesn't seem to have all the bugs sorted yet.
Plus there is even more advantages in the next version, if my assumptions are correct. The new Firefox browser will probably be usable. The current one is way too slow to be used daily. If you have at least a bit of demands on performance of other things running in parallel.
So on my laptop, probably, on my stationary, nope.

Libreoffice in Fedora 15
If you wonder what Libreoffice is, it is simply a fork of OpenOffice.

Gnome 3 recension
I have found him, the one guy who does not think Gnome 3 is most suited for laptops.
Does not compute is the conclusion on why there are more mouse clicks. Not that this would be handy for laptops since you may miss click more often using a laptop and a small mouse.
The article is not even written against the standard layout that gnome 3 provides.

Wireless with BCM4313 Linux Fedora 15,16,17,18
You may have come from the Starting to use linux section, or Fedora 18 - Making it home usable to get here.
This is an instruction to install wlan for you who has an BCM4313 chip in your laptop, for the wireless network.
This is an instruction to install wlan for you who has an BCM4313 chip in your laptop, for the wireless network.
Make sure you have updated so that you have the latest packages if this does not work.
1)First go to the above site to enable access to rpmfusion-repositories.
2)Install the package akmod-wl
3) Installing akmod-wl gives you the wrong kernel-devel, install the correct one.
4) Use a terminal and do the following as root:
# akmods --force
Checking kmods exist for 2.6.38.2-9.fc15.x86_64 [ OK ]
Building and installing wl-kmod [ OK ]
5)Now reboot by setting the "Shutdown" on pressing the power button in system-settings.
If you are looking for wlan guides for other hardware than this:
If you want you can try to replace step 2-4 with installing only the package "kmod-wl", this should work, but there was no version compiled against my kernel version when I wrote this.

Sound and Video, Linux
In the Add/Remove Software applicaton under Applications, search for wine and select "A Windows 16/32/64 bit emulator" and press Apply to install it.
Now you are able to run windows-applications.

The reason to use google chrome in linux
Browsing in linux/fedora general
Mozilla Firefox is apparently not as fast in Linux as it is in windows. That is why I use Google chrome. It is just miles faster than what Firefox is. In the end of the year some versions that are quicker will probably hit new distributions, this is about the time when Fedora 16 is released. Until then the only browser to use is Google chrome. Of course chromium is possible to use theoretically, but in practice I would like to use something more well tested to avoid instability/performance issues.
http://www.google.se/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=slow+performance+firefox+linux#sclient=psy&hl=sv&safe=off&source=hp&q=slow+performance+firefox+linux+2011&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=49d51257d9dfd5ec
In this Swedish article (translate it with some tool) the explanation of the performance issue under Linux follows. Apparently it is not being compiled as effectively as it is on windows. This is due to that it is more beneficial for the project to focus on windows.

Open source in the phone would be awesome!
Apparently LG and Nokia is making this available. I wonder when it hits the market.

Why linux?
http://www.ghabuntu.com/2011/04/5-reasons-why-linux-is-future-of.html
There, 5 reasons to why linux is the future.
I would like to narrow it down to change management, and no real commercialization, creating full compatibility backwards. Windows is a project based on that we are going to need a completely new operating system, and that the world will reinvent itself about every 3-4 years. This is not happening anymore. Windows XP still actually works. Windows 7 is a little better, but I assume most people is still using the 10 year old operating system Windows XP. Open source document software has caught up with Microsoft's office package nowadays, and it is unclear what is the standard office software to use. Of course some large companies would be of a different opinion.
What I am trying to say is that there is no acceptance for all the software to change radically nowadays. Things have to stay the same, and when they do, open source can grow easily.

Sound issues with virtualbox + wine simultaneously
VirtualBox and Linux
While using wine applications and virtualizing an os at the same time in fedora 14, the sound can sometimes disappear in the wine application. This can be really annoying if you are in a video call with someone. So know that this is a common issue with for example using ventrilo in wine in linux and using virtualbox to run a windows xp at the same time. Very annoying that the sound in vent just suddenly disappears. You need to restart the application in order for the sound to work again.

Surfing the net anonymously
Browsing in Linux, general posts
I stumbled upon this site:
http://www.torproject.org/
Apparently a project enabling anonymously browsing the internet. One of the ideas is that it should be impossible to locate the user. And you will not get any commercials specially adapted to yourself.
I wonder though if this really is something that is technically working, and if it is common to use those technicalities to track someone, I mean there should be a limited number of people even knowing about these methods, it should really be much easier to locate people in real life, asking questions.
But if you don't wish to be localized under any circumstances, go ahead and use it :).

Problem with black squares appearing randomly in fedora 14 with nvidia driver
I have had some graphical issues in fedora 14 with my 8800gt nvidia card. However when I load this page:
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/292376-15-black-squares
All the problems seem to disappear, probably it is due to some addon required to display some of the ads that is pushing something into the memory. I have no clue, but when I have that problem, I load that page, and it works!

yum bug fedora 15 beta
Tried to do a "yum update" using the terminal today.
It repeatedly advised me to do a yum-complete-transaction in order to fix the mess that it had caused to itself somehow.
However it did not work
Then I tried to do a "yum clean all", but still a no-go. Now instead the error message is some error in a python-script, doesn't look good at all actually.
Some complaints now about sq-lite and the system is crying about that it is unable to open some database. May be unsolvable I don't know. But it is running fine so I'll go in to ignorance-mode for a while.

What can linux do to improve local weather?
Nothing. It is too cold. But I can't find anything in the repositories that makes it warmer. Is this a bug or is it a feature not supported yet? If so, does it come in the next version? Please make it happen.

Google ads
Google ads aren't anything I would want to have in my ideal world.
But I really like that Google takes some responsibility and creates ad's that aren't covering up my whole screen, puts some stupid animation up right in my face, or other disturbing things. Thank you Google!

Ubuntu 11.04
http://www.ubuntu.com/
Ubuntu came out with a new version recently. Ubuntu uses gnome, but I think in comparison to Fedora 15 Beta they will not use the same GUI-"stuff". It looks like Ubuntu has developed some own things that they update the application launcher with. Although it does not use the new accelerated mode that Gnome 3 offers, instead they use the old version. So I'd wait for Fedora if using linux on a laptop, for stationary computers the Ubuntu version looks interesting.

Fedora popularity
In the last thirty days, Fedora is number three among the most popular distributions. More popular among users is Mint and Ubuntu, Fedora is about half as popular as Ubuntu.
Ubuntu seems to be the largest by quite far. It is not a big question as to why this is. They have effectively solved codec issues. Needed to watch movies, and play music files.
In Fedora, stubbornness of the project that everything should be free, will never implement something that will make it easy to install codecs. You have to install a new repo to get access to that.
Same thing with Nvidia drivers. Nothing in anything default. Everything should be free.
I have to say, in my opinion, there is no real thought behind Ubuntu in terms of bugs, stability. That is from what I have experienced myself. Building an operating system of open source does not only require you to pick stuff and smash it together and fix some small bugs. You also need to have the big picture, what is developed and tested against what, who was making the software and what is it intended for, etc. I do not know such things that people do not tell but I know that when it comes to Fedora, there is not much to be unsure about when something goes wrong.
I don't have any in depth knowledge of those things that I talk about. This is just what I have experienced myself. It is possible to use Fedora for real things, because it is possible to understand this distribution, I can not understand the bugs of Ubuntu, since it becomes too advanced with all it's workarounds.
